Why We’re Donating to Foodbank This Christmas

Christmas has always been a season of giving, but this year, giving back feels especially important for us. Drizzle has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of, but at its heart, our business has always been about community, connection, and care. This Christmas, we want to honour a place that has supported people across South Australia the Foodbank Food Hub in Christies Beach.

My Story (Charlotte)

Back when COVID hit, my world changed fast. I was working in architecture and suddenly projects stopped, work vanished and I felt lost, uncertain, and longing for something meaningful.

That’s when I started volunteering at Foodbank Food Hub Christies Beach. Every shift, I was surrounded by food boxes, hampers, fresh produce and people working to help families who were struggling. Packing supplies and meals for others reminded me how much small acts of kindness can matter.

Foodbank became more than a place of volunteering, it became a place where I rediscovered purpose and connection in a time when a lot felt unstable.

Mum’s Story (Sue)

A few years later, when Mum retired, she too found herself looking for something fulfilling to devote her energy to.

We didn’t volunteer together, our paths reached the Food Hub at different times, but knowing we both contributed to the same cause connected us in a special way. We shared stories of the people we met there, the community we helped, and the quiet power of giving back.

That shared experience, even if separated by time, became part of what Drizzle is all about: caring, community, and hands-on support. That’s why we choose to sell our goodies through small local cafés and shops, to support them, to bring people through their doors, and to keep our impact close to home rather than in big stores.

Why Food Matters to Us

At Drizzle, we believe food is more than fuel, it’s comfort, connection, nourishment, and love. But we also know that for many people, having a reliable meal on the table is anything but guaranteed.

Foodbank SA, through hubs like Christies Beach, steps in to fill that gap. Their ‘Food Hub’ model offers a dignified shopping-style environment: fresh fruit, vegetables, pantry staples, and essential items at accessible rates for people in need.

To us, supporting Foodbank isn’t just charity, it’s affirming dignity, community care, and the belief that everyone deserves access to good, nourishing food.

Why We’re Donating This Christmas

This year, with this special campaign, we’re donating $5 from every Drizzle Duo Gift Pack to Foodbank SA, directly supporting their hub in Christies Beach. Because every $1 helps provide 2 meals, your purchase helps give 10 meals to people in need across SA!

It feels like coming full circle, from the time when volunteering at Foodbank helped me find purpose, to now running a small business that can give back meaningfully.

When you gift Drizzle this Christmas, you’re not just giving delicious chilli oil and salt, you’re helping put real meals on the table for families who need them, sharing warmth, care, and community through food.

A Gift That Gives Twice

From our mother–daughter kitchen to the homes of those who buy and to those who receive meals because of it, thank you. Thank you for supporting our little business. Thank you for sharing love, flavour and kindness this Christmas.

Take care,
Charlotte & Sue
